  • Is aware of who you are
  • Knows about the value you provide
  • Chooses you over your competitors

There’s still a bit of doubt about their credibility.

Is Personal Branding Legit?

See 3 big names in the world of personal branding

There’s only one answer to this question.

You see, no matter what profession you’re associated with, there’s a shady side to it.

Just like that, personal branding is real. But many people don’t stop from scamming people by creating their fake image.

Big scams have happened and people suffer from the loss of money, time, and resources.

But still, there are a great many people who have created successful personal brands and get 10× income than a normal 9-5 job.

Let’s know the stories of these people:

Alex Hormozi:

Alex Hormozi currently has 604k followers on Twitter (X).

In this book, “The $100M Offer”, he shared his story of being almost broke…

But then he did some magical business and is now the founder of Acquisition, his unique brand.

Alex had done multiple 8 and 9-figure businesses before he got traction on his brand.

But don’t worry, you don’t have to do that.

I’ll cover everything on how to build your personal brand in 2024 a minute later.

But first, let’s see who owns other bombastic personal brands.

Justin Welsh:

Justin Welsh, also known as the God of Solopreneurship, stands at 479k followers on Twitter (X) and is currently earning because of his personal brand.

Justin has launched his very successful course, which gets more than 100 testimonials every day and is rated as one of the best courses available to date.

If not for his brand, Justin could never have made the empire he owns now.

Alright, moving to the final example now.

Chase Dimond:

Chase Dimond has created his personal brand on LinkedIn and currently has 294k followers.

Chase is an email marketer and has sent more than 1 BILLION emails for his clients.

Surprising, right?

But it’s the work he’s done that speaks for his credibility.

Not just that, in the branding world, Chase has made sure to identify himself in a very narrow category.

He writes emails (and not just any copy), for E-commerce guys (and not just anybody).

This careful niching down has helped him stand out and so he’s the choice of almost all the big e-commerce companies.

Now, these guys are earning millions, all through their personal branding.

I know there’s a question popping in your head.

“Can I do the same?”

And I have the answer.

Yes, you can!

But is it really important to build your personal brand?

Or can you make loads of money off something else?

Let’s see why you need to start creating a brand today.

How To Create And Monetize Your Personal Brand From Scratch In 2024

Content creation and monetization in detail

To start creating your personal brand, you first need to sort out your interests. What do you want to create? What keeps you hooked? What’s something that makes you excited when you talk about it?

And once you’re done getting some following, you need to figure out ways to monetize your brand.

I’ll divide this section into two sub-sections, Content Creation, and Money Printing. The first one will talk about creating content, and the second one will elaborate on ways to make money from your brand.

Image showing the key components of a brand.
Your brand is you.

1. Content Creation

1.1 Choose What Your Brand Is Going To Be About

These are my simple yet very actionable tips for you to choose what your brand is gonna be about:

  • Do some brainstorming. Write down all the things that you love talking about, or that resonate the most with you. For example, writing, talking about cars, cooking delicacies, etc.
  • Write 3 reasons for why you like each of them.
  • Choose one of the 3 options you have.
  • After that, go to ChatGPT and ask it to give you a list of categories that can be the base of your brand.
  • Check which one of these categories is the closest to your chosen topic.

And there you have it. A perfect example of how you can choose a category for your brand.

After that, you need to think about the WHERE of personal branding.

1.2 Choose One Platform To Build Your Personal Brand

In the above examples of successful personal brands, you saw that you can create a brand on Twitter (X) or LinkedIn.

But the list doesn’t end here. Let me tell you about all the platforms where you can build your personal brand in 2024.

  • Facebook
  • Twitter
  • LinkedIn
  • Instagram
  • YouTube
  • Tiktok
  • Pinterest

These are the platforms that almost everybody knows how to use. And you can also build your personal brand by choosing one of these.

Now, you must be confused.

“How do I choose one of these? I don’t know which one’s better.”

Don’t worry, ’cause I’ve got you.

Okay, so, if you’re somebody who loves to write and produce/consume text-based content, Facebook and Twitter are your best bet.

If you like to create a subtle balance between textual and visual content, I’d suggest you start with LinkedIn.

And finally, if you’re a fan of visual content, i.e. images, videos, flashcards, etc. you can start your brand on Instagram, TikTok, Pinterest, or YouTube.

Bonus Tip: You need to stick with one platform when you’re just starting. If you choose multiple platforms, it’ll wear you out and you won’t be able to reach anywhere.

1.3 Start Posting Consistently

Once you find the platform that suits you best, you have to start posting.

Don’t make your first post boring.

Start your journey with a bang and share your motivation behind starting this brand.

Be very genuine and authentic throughout your posts.

Be kind and engage with everybody who comments on your posts, nobody likes grumps anyway.

Once you get a knack for posting and understanding how the platform works for other brands, it’s time to create your content strategy.

1.4 Create A Content Strategy

Okay, hard truth.

You’ll not be able to build your personal brand coolly.

And I’m being 100% honest with you, it’s not that you can get all the fame and money with one snap of your finger.

You’ll have to put in the reps and that’s often the hardest thing to do.

So unless you have a content strategy in place, you’ll soon leave your work unattended and leave this journey in the middle of the road.

To make sure you reach your destination, I’ll help you understand the way you can be consistent without boredom and fatigue.

Create a system and a content strategy in a few easy steps:

  • Take a pen and paper. Write your major category in the middle of it. For example, writing.
  • Start brainstorming what comes under the umbrella term of writing. For instance, content writing, copywriting, psychology, writing tips, etc.
  • Take another paper, and write another 5 subtopics that come under content writing, Copywriting, psychology, etc.
  • Now open Google Sheets and put these subtopics according to whatever sequence pleases you.
  • Add dates from 1-30 in front of each of the subtopics.

And it’s done. You have your content strategy for 30 days of a month.

When you already know what you’re going to talk about, it becomes easy to create content.

Also, to ensure consistency, you can write/film all the content on one day of a week and just post it whenever you have to.

Having your content on the ready will lessen your chances of procrastinating or frustrating.

1.5 Understand Your Target Audience

This is something that most people will have you do before you even start to build your personal brand.

But I think it’ll be better to figure out your audience while you’re posting content because you don’t need to be perfect.

So understanding your target audience is the gap between your brand and money.

If you understand who you’re addressing, what their pain points are, and how you can provide solutions to their problems, you can print money in an easy-peasy way.

Not just that, it will also help your content reach people who are directly addressed.

To find our your target audience, you need to ask yourself these questions.

  • Who am I talking to?
  • What is something that a group of people is struggling with?
  • How can I help them solve their problems?

When you answer these questions, you’ll be clearer on what content you wanna post, and how you’ll plan to build your personal brand and monetize it.

Bonus Tip: “If you try to appeal to everyone, you risk appealing to no one. So narrow down your prospects and find out your ideal target audience.

The next section will explain all you need to know about monetizing your personal brand.

2. Money Printing

I feel sad when I see people having accounts with big follower counts. And when I ask them if they’re making any money, their answers are impossible.

“I don’t know how to make money from my followers.”

“Why would somebody pay me, bro? I only post hair styling videos.”

Responses like this make me wanna punch them in the face. There’s nothing that won’t pay you in today’s times. Whatever you do, whatever passion you have, it can be monetized. People today are making money selling jars with farts filled in them and you think you don’t have the potential to make passive income online?

Now, I’m not asking you to sell farts, but the possibilities are endless. All you need to do is read this article till the end to earn your first buck. Let’s get right into it.

Image showing holding a dollar bill.
Let’s print some cash

2.1 Create A Newsletter

No matter who you are, no matter what your brand is about, you have to have a newsletter.

This is where all the selling begins.

You post valuable content on the social media platform you’ve chosen and then add a CTA at the end of every post to make people join your newsletter.

Your email list is going to be your most valuable asset.

You see, the social media audience is rented. No matter how many followers you have, if your account gets suspended or something, you lose everything you’ve created.

Moral of the story?

Create your newsletter and bring people over there.

And now it’s time to create an offer for you.

2.2 Create Your Offer

You need to have a solid offer that can convert and make your audience buy from you.

And how do you create an offer like that?

Simple. You check your audience analysis again.

That’ll have all the answers.

You can offer your products/services at different rates and with different packages.

Your offer can either be a low ticket (ranging up to $500) or a high-ticket one (above and beyond $500).

Once done with offer creation, it’s time to promote your offer.

But before I talk about that…

Let’s understand how you can use personal branding as a ghostwriter to earn money.

2.3 8 Products/Services To Make Money As A Personal Brand Owner

Once you want to monetize your existing brand, it can be hard to find the one thing you’d like to sell.

Sometimes it’s just motivation that doesn’t hit you. Other times you’re stuck with little to no ideas.

However, I’ve brought you 7 ideas for your existing brand by which you can easily monetize it.

Let’s get started.

1. Consultation calls:

Consultation calls are one of the best options you can go for.

They usually take 30-60 mins only and you can quote a high price for them.

I’ve seen people charging $5000 only for 1-hour consultation calls.

But those people are highly experienced and spend years doing the same thing.

Anyway, if you’re a professional and hold expertise in something, you can offer people consultation calls with you.

The best thing about these calls is that beginners or even experts sometimes need guidance. They know how to do a thing, but need additional advice or want to discuss their projects.

So, consultation calls can be very beneficial for you.

2. Digital Courses

You don’t realize it, but the value of digital courses is going up every day.

More and more people are into buying stuff they can learn while being comfy in their homes.

World has become a global village and nearly everything is shifting towards the online spectrum.

And you know what that means for you, right?

You can use simple tools like Loom, MS Office, etc. to create your courses and record them.

And your content doesn’t even have to be something really complex.

You only need to help someone one step behind you.

So create something that your previous version could have benefitted from.

3. Premium Subscription

Once you get some eyeballs on your content and you see that people like it a lot, you can start creating premium content.

This premium content would be exclusive and you can charge a subscription fee for it.

For example, some people put videos on YouTube. Some of these videos aren’t complete, and you need to subscribe to their patron or some other subscription to get the full content.

You can apply the same trick to your emails too.

Many people subscribe to paid email lists and read the emails.

If you have a dedicated audience for your email list, they might wanna get premium email content, so don’t forget to try this.

4. E-books

Another digital product you can sell is E-books.

They are handy and don’t take much investment.

There are many platforms like Amazon, Scribd, and others where you can publish these eBooks for free and make money.

Once you get people to like your eBooks, there’s so much money in this thing too.

5. Podcast

Podcasts are another trend that people love a lot.

You can start your podcast on Spotify or YouTube even and get money once somebody listens to it.

Even if you don’t have a podcast of your own, you can go as a guest speaker to other podcasts and quote your price for appearing there.

There are a great many people who like to listen to podcasts while working out or doing chores. And if you can get attention from such people, that’s great for you.

6. Coaching

Courses are good but some people like to be able to talk to their instructor and get help when they need it.

If you also like to interact with people directly, you can go for online coaching classes.

You can hold online classes on Zoom, Google Meet, or some other platform that allows you to interact with other people.

Since coaching is 1:1, you can charge higher rates for it and enjoy money rolling into your account.

7. Affiliates

Affiliate marketing is another way you can get money. It’s very simple too.

What you can do is, you can showcase products related to your niche and then get a percentage of profit from the manufacturers.

It’s simple because you don’t really have to do anything.

It only takes you to put the product in such a way that people buy.

8. Ghostwriting For Founders

So, a ghostwriter is someone who writes for other people and grows their account, brings traffic to it, and sometimes makes sales too.

As a ghostwriter, you first grow your account and transform it into a brand. And then, you replicate the same process for other founders. The first thing to do would be to start posting and building your profile as I’ve explained in the content creation section.

After you see some decent growth, it’s time to look for clients. You can either go for freelance marketplaces or social media platforms for hunting clients.

Dos And Don’ts Of Personal Branding
