Imagine this…

You’re asleep. A notification on your mobile wakes you up. The notification says that you made a sale…

You’re still quite sleepy. You try to remember how this happened.

Then it clicks you. It’s the eBook you uploaded long ago.

And it’s still bringing money in your account.

How would you feel?

Surreal? Well, you can make this dream, I showed you, real.

You can make passive money whilst sleeping.

Creators all over the world are making use of their writing potential by selling eBooks. You can do the same to cash in on your abilities.

So get your eBook ready because I’m about to tell you about all the platforms where you can upload your piece of writing, and get people to buy it.

1

Amazon’s Kindle Direct Publishing

Books at your fingertips

Amazon’s Kindle is the largest platform for eBooks. You can upload your book there by self-publishing.

One amazing thing about Kindle is that you have your audience right there. It really saves you from the hassle of finding people who really wanna read something.

Finally, you just have to promote your content, and voilà! You start getting sales. But there’s one thing. This whole sales process doesn’t happen overnight.

So make sure you don’t lose it right in the beginning.

Etsy

eBook selling made easy

Famous for its handmade and unique products, Etsy has a place for eBooks, too. If you have a unique idea, and you have niched down your content, Etsy is good for you.

You should get the book ready for digital download, though, when you upload it on Etsy.

Pinterest

Publisher’s Showcase

“Oh, don’t tell me about that stupid girls’ app!”

If you’re about to snap at me like that, hold your horses.

I’ve talked about promoting your eBook above. If you don’t have any idea about it, just go to Pinterest.

Post a good and engaging pin for your book, hook your audience, and then link it with your sales page. While many people don’t take Pinterest seriously, you don’t have to be one of those. Pinterest can be a great source to generate traffic to your sales page.

Don’t let it go to waste. P.S. Learn How to do affiliate marketing on Pinterest by clicking here.

Own Website (Shopify and WooCommerce)

Your books; Your store

If you’re a person who can’t stand his sales page being controlled by other platforms, have a website of your own.

And no, it’s not that hard. Go to Shopify or WooCommerce and gain control over everything.

You can control your branding, marketing, and sales, all through your website.

Just put your eBook there and let the magic happen.

6

Smashwords

Your books, Your way

Want a bigger audience without much work? Smashwords is for you.

It is a distributor that can distribute your books to further eBook retailers. You can get your books retailed by Apple iBooks, Barnes & Noble, and more.

You’re paid royalties right then if your book is sold to someone directly or through retailers.

A global stage for your reads

Have you ever tried Google Play Books? Just like Amazon’s Kindle, Google Play Books is a big library. You just go, look for the book you want, and get it. Simple as that.

There’s also much benefit in selling on this platform. Again, you’ll have to channel your audience here through a lead magnet.

8

And don’t be scared. If you don’t experience the process of marketing and selling, you’ll never be good at it. Don’t pay heed to that imposter syndrome.

Draft2Digital

Easy publishing, endless options

Another platform that can help you distribute your eBook among buyers and retailers is Draft2Digital.

They charge only 10% of your sales money. So they get to have money only when you make a sale, which is pretty good. No risk is involved on this platform. Because they don’t ask for money when you’re to format or update a book.

11

BookBaby

Simplify your publishing journey

Again, to help you with conversion, marketing, and selling, BookBaby is here.

People can either buy your book directly or through retailers. If you sell it directly to a buyer, BookBaby keeps 15% of your sale. Although, no cut is made if you sell the eBook through retailers.

12

Scribd

Amplify your voice

A different kind of platform, Scribd helps you generate money based on your engagements. On Scribd, people subscribe to it. And then they can read your book.

The more readers you’ve got, the more you get to pay. It’s like another version of YouTube but for books only.

It’s a good option to go with if you don’t know much about marketing and sales.

13

Payhip

You write words, We make sales

A market that is directly targeted at digital content, it’s a good platform to sell your eBook.

Payhip assists you with marketing and sales of your eBook. Whenever an author buys from you, you get the money immediately in your PayPal or Stripe account. The Payhip fee is deducted and the rest is what your eBook got you.

14

LeanPub

Craft with clarity

If you want a platform that helps you write, format, publish, and sell your book, this is it. LeanPub lets you write your eBook with its writing modes.

When you’re done writing, you can download your book in a number of formats. From there, it’s on you if you want to publish the book here or somewhere else.

Social Media and Email Marketing

Connect and Convert

The last and my personal favorite option to sell your book is through social media and your email list. Social media teaches you some effective marketing strategies for eBook selling. There are some simple steps you can follow to get your book sold.

  • First, generate an audience, obviously. You can do it on X(Twitter), Facebook or LinkedIn.
  • Then, bring this audience to your exclusive newsletter.
  • Release your book to your email list.

That’s how simple it is to do it, all on your own. You don’t have to worry about fee deductions by platforms and all that. But I must say, it takes time to build an email list, and then launch a product.

Conclusion

Remember that every platform I told you about has some restrictions of its own. You need to do thorough research before you jump to a conclusion.

Here’s how to do it:

  • Analyze your content. The niche, the target audience.
  • Analyze your preferred platform for its audience.
  • Go to Reddit or Quora and find out the interests of people who are using these platforms for book reading.

By following these instructions, you can make it easy for yourself. And finding a compatible platform for publishing eBooks would be smooth like butter.

Lastly, don’t wait for your eBook to be perfect; just press the publish button.
